Our Mission and Vision

This is who we are. This is what we stand for.

	MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of First Baptist Church of Brownsville is to lead people to a saving faith in Jesus Christ and help them become maturing disciples.
	VISION STATEMENT
First Baptist Church of Brownsville is a mid-city church which serves people from all walks of life who are most likely to respond to our unashamed outreach, blended style of worship, small group teaching, and friendly atmosphere. We enjoy and are committed to a high level of participation in ministry by all who wish to identify with us. It is our vision to build a congregation of people who will become genuine and growing followers of Christ and who will saturate our city with our message.

	Friendly atmosphere
We believe that Christian growth occurs best in a safe and supportive environment where people can be real, without fear of condemnation.
	High participation level
We believe that the work and growth of the church is a shared responsibility of its members, as each functioning part of the body of Christ fulfills God's spiritual gift.

	Saving faith in Jesus Christ
We believe that people may receive salvation only through what Jesus, as God's chosen Savior, did on the cross for all mankind.
	Maturing disciples
We believe that God saves people to make their lives better, not only in this world but in the world to come, by making them more and more like Jesus through the process of discipleship, which is the emulation of Christ in daily life.
	Unashamed outreach
We believe that giving every person a chance to experience God's offer of a better life in Jesus is a noble and beneficial goal.
	Blended style of worship
We believe that the worship of God, which is every person's highest calling, is best expressed in our culture and time by putting together both traditional and contemporary styles.
	Small group teaching
We believe that the emulation of Jesus is best learned and practiced in a small community of believers whose members meet regularly and exercise loving accountability for one another.
